WHAT IS THIS PLACE?

welcome... to puruland!!! this is my very own website for me to do as i please. it mostly focuses on being a sort of blog/diary, a place to showcase cool things i find on the internet, and pretty much anything else i want.

you can probably guess that anybody with a personal website like this is just trying to relive their childhood browsing the old web or they want to escape social media because social media is a cesspit, and for me it's the latter since i had to leave for the sake of my mental health. i spent my childhood (from 11 years old or so onward anyways) on runescape and later gaiaonline, deviantart, tumblr, and what have you. i didn't go too deep into the webrings of old, if ever. i didn't know much about sites like that at all... but now that i've discovered neocities for some reason (i literally forgot how i came here, probably twitter), i've abandoned twitter because people are shitty and i want to decorate my webpage like i used to on tumblr in the early to mid 2010s...

WHAT'S ON THIS SITE

for the most part, i'm pretty much going to talk about me, what i like, and then link to a bunch of stuff i think is interesting, fun, or useful. i also intend on giving people access to helpful things, like coding stuff and art tutorials and stuff like that. or something. idk. it's just a bit of a rabbit hole website i guess.

MY SITE, NOT YOUR SITE

because this is my website, i post what i want. i'm the sole webmistress of puruland and i control what goes here. if i want to talk about something, i will, and if i don't want to talk about something, i won't. simple. i try to keep it lighthearted around here and sometimes i'll complain in my diary about something but for the most part, i'm not going to get too "messy". this is an escape from reality. a sanctuary. a happy place. good vibes only. etcetera. so, i'm avoiding certain kinds of topics i don't like talking about. cool? cool.

MINORS BEWARE

there's no sugarcoating it: i say the "fuck" words. a lot. this site is NOT family friendly, despite the pastels and cuteness. very shocking, yes, i'm aware. as for more explicit things, i'll be sure to let you know if there's anything to look out for on a certain page. i'd say that the site is... mostly 16+. 18+ and 21+ content is very unlikely to come up on here but anything is possible and i'll be sure to make it clear when there is.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE MY ASSETS

while not everything is 100% original, a great deal of the site assets are made by me, myself, and i. some of them are really basic, honestly, like the polka dots and the stripes that could technically be found anywhere... but otherwise i'd appreciate if you didn't take my assets without my permission! if you need help making your site look good, please look at my resource page or consider consulting a search engine. i also plan on making some of my own thingamabobs/web materials avaliable to others for free someday, because i know how to make a few pretty good seamless/tiled/repeating backgrounds (not to toot my own horn lol)

SITE UPDATES ARE VERY SPORADIC

sometimes i go hog wild and just update a bunch in the span of a week or a few days and sometimes the site is neglected for like MONTHS. sometimes it's totally just me forgetting how to code at all but sometimes it's also laziness or not being able to think of anything to add
